Kudos to Adam Lambert!

I have written before about my loathing for certainly web celeb sites. One reason is that many choose to 'out' celebrities against their will. I loath anyone 'outting' another without consent. One's sexuality is not the business of any other unless one chooses to share it. I applaud Adam Lambert for playing 'coy' with the media the past while. In some ways I cannot believe how many people felt quite fine asking Lambert and others connect to Idol about it as if it were anyone's business. The fact of the matter, people really did not need to ask, the answer was never hidden, people just wanted to be the one to get the scoop. Lambert never attempted to cover who he is, he just never felt the need to explain it. This is the mark of a true artist.

Congradulations Kris!

Congraduations to Kris Allen who won American Idol last night!

The internet of course is full of posters and bloggers today giving their views on why Kris won. Yes I saw the anti Adam sites and ads and yes I saw posts and got emails from those who were pushing for the first gay winner. Both equally bugged me.

Maybe some group did have a hand in the outcome, but it is hard for me to care that much as I thought both men were talented and deserving of the win. I hope that things other than talent did not play a part but I also wish everyone could handle the outcome as well as Adam and Kris did. It will be a shame if the win is overshadowed by weeks of anger about it. Adam and Kris were friends and I believe both happy for one another.

Adam's Mad World was one of Idol's greatest performances, but week after week I generally prefered Kris's performances. Both men are deserving and I wish it could be left at that.

My only complaint about last night was selfish and it was that I did not get enough of Matt Giraud. I will let Idol off the hook if it is true he and Scott were supposed to perform with Billy Joel (which did not happen because Joel could not make it) But I was really hoping he would get a duet or a chance to shine.

Favorite Birthday Boys for today May 11th

I miss Matt Giraud on AI, not the same without his dance moves! Matt and Allison were my favorites. Matt turns 24 today.

Beautiful Gilles Guillain turns 27 today.

American Idol Update! Good Bye Matt Giraud

Yeah maybe you riffed one time to many, but I will miss ya Matt Giraud. I enjoyed you every week, and was thrilled you got the save. Without that save, we would not have gotten to see your sexy disco moves!

American Idol Tonight!

Tonight the idols are singing songs from The Rat Pack and it should be a good night! Although usually at this stage of the show, the top 5 sing 2 songs per night, not sure they can fit it in, especially with that darned 4th judge... (I like Kara, but really was she needed...) I like all the singers left but if I had to pick someone to go it would be Danny. He is very talented, but somehow seems the same every single week. We will see after tonight!

American Idol Update:

I was happy I get to see Matt Giraud one more week! And even with the lip-syncing, I found the disco group number quite hot!

Just Because: American Idol

Just because these group shots after Matt was saved are so darned adorable!

American Idol Update: Matt Giraud Stays!

Favorite does not always mean the best. Two of my favorite songs on Idol in the past 8 seasons were Adam Lambert's 'Tears of a Clown' and 'Mad Mad World'. Yet, he is not my favorite. His fast songs where he almost screeches the words are great, but not enjoyable to me. Lil Rounds has an amazing voice, yet as the judges tell her week after week, she is missing something and her performances are falling flat. Especially sad she does not seem to see this herself. Kris is the cutest of the group, and although very talented, not my favorite.

Matt Giraud is my favorite this season, not sure why. He is not the best singer, not the best looking, not the best performer, but there is something about him that appeals to me. His song choices have been poor, his performances hit and miss (Although this could be said about almost all of them except maybe Adam and Danny).

I was pleased that Matt was saved last night. Yeah, he will not win, but he might get another week, maybe two to entertain me. I really like all 7 singers left, and this is the first year I could say that. I was so happy to see snoozie depart last week, but now there are 7 singers who I really like. I am sure if Matt does not leave next week, Lil or Anoop will have lost a week they might have had if Matt had left last night, but I am sure it will not effect the final four of Kris, Adam, Danny and Allison.

Wasn't it great to see the joy and support for Matt from the rest of the group, especially Adam and Kris. This is what American Idol is about to me. The show pumps itself up as finding superstars, and it has on a few ocassions, but most I believe watch for great performances and scenes of emotion like we saw last night.

American Idol The final 8: How did they do?

I love me some Matt Giraud and he certainly delivered a great performance of a pretty average song last night with Stevie Wonder's Part Time Lover. The night however belonged to Adam Lambert. I always enjoyed Gary Jules version of Mad Mad World, and Adam's take on the song and his vocal performance was simply amazing. Some weeks I really like Adam, other weeks I do not, but last night his performance was one of the best vocal performances I think the show has ever had. Please put Scott out of our misery and boot him tonight. Lil Rounds also needs to go (Yes the woman can sing, but what she cannot do is pull off a decent performance). Allison was spectacular and Kris, Anoop and Danny were all ok, but Scott needs depart stat!

I am sure many were pissed that AI ran over so long last night. I was out til after midnight but predicted it would over after last week so I ensured I also recorded Fringe. I am sure it will not effect the votes for Adam but if it were another singer it certainly might have.

American Idol Update:

I quite liked the energy and cool voice of Megan, but I was happy to see one of my favorites, Matt Giraud safe last night. Kris and Adam get all the attention, but I quite enjoy Matt's performances each week. Lil Rounds is horribly over praised and Scott puts me to sleep. Hopefully Matt will be around for awhile.

American Idol: Who is going tonight?

Well, it certainly will not be Adam Lambert or Kris Allen. My hope is Scott will go tonight (He really is not as talented as they judges try to have us think) but my gut says Michael Sarver is on his way out. Megan was pretty bad last night, but something tells me it is not her night to go. What do you think?

Just Because: Kris Allen of American Idol

American Idol has not really grabbed me this season. Maybe I have watched too long, maybe it is the singers, not sure. I do know I hate the new format (actually going back to the old format). This format gives the viewers no time to get to know the singers and allows for no mistakes. The past few seasons with only 2 singers going each week during the narrow down to top 12, most had a chance to fix a mistake and had more time for the viewers to get to love them or hate them. I am not really a big fan of anyone who has gotten through so far, not that they are not talented, but because most were such a sure thing. In the case of the guys in particular, most were featured quite heavily in storylines for Hollywood week and it is obvious the producers wanted them through. They seem to care very little about any of the girls. That being said, I am happy cutie Kris Allen made it through. Not because he is the best though. I did love his Hollywood Week performances, but was not at all blown away by his 'Man in the Mirror'. He is adorable though and when a show is not holding your interst, sometimes adorable is enough...
